5. Many questions are heard in mind during such a process of prolonged, and in certain ways removed (some neutral form of the negative) listening. Perhaps these are questions that developed during the initial experience; perhaps they predate even this. Some concerns and speculations lie dormant until the imagination consciously moves. What compels us to record what we do? I can’t say that I often remember recording with a clearly defined purpose. Is there a residue of consciousness, a sub-moment, that moves back and forth between the intimacy of environment and thing-to-be-known?
